Chief Economic Advisor Arvind Subramanian resigned

  • According to union minister Mr Arun Jaitley, Arvind Subramanian (Chief Economic Advisor of India) had resigned from the post.
  • He will return to the US because of "pressing family commitments".
  • In October 2014, Subramanian was appointed as Chief Economic Advisor of India (CEA) to the finance ministry for the period of three years.
  • In 2017 his term was extended for a year.
Note:
  • The Chief Economic Adviser (CEA) is the economic advisor to the Government of India and ex-officio cadre controlling authority of the Indian Economic Service.
  • The CEA is under the direct charge of the Minister of Finance.
